I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio and have always had at least one creative project going at a time. When I was much younger, these took the form of films I would cast my neighbors in and spend hours editing. In high school, my free time was with the theater department or on the soccer field, two things I am currently finding my way back to.
At San Diego State University, my freshman and sophomore years tainted by isolation and online classes, I found a home in organizations on campus. Both Alpha Phi Omega and Epsilon Eta events filled my days as I spent time on the Executive Boards, and running the social media of the latter for three years. Community service was at the heart of these organizations, so they didn’t just connect me to campus life, but to the broader San Diego community as well.
While enrolled there, I was offered many amazing opportunities. During my last semester, one of my former professors invited me to present my research at the Indigenous Art and Research Symposium. It was an honor to share my work in that space. I spent one summer abroad in Rome and studied art and Italian, forever thankful for the change in perspective this opportunity gave me.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Communication. Since graduating, I have done freelance social media work, writing blogs, and graphic design for small companies. I am proficient in multiple film and photo editing programs. My creative skills grow every day and I have learned how adaptable I am to learning new things and working with a variety of different people.
Outside of professional pursuits, I have taken up yoga and pilates, which are quite challenging and rewarding. I am an avid reader and will pick up a range of genres, from academic nonfiction to autobiography to romance. I also recently bought a surfboard, although I have not yet gathered the courage to take it out into the ocean.
